[presto] alexandra axelina civilian twenty-one bookstore clerk bisexual single toxxic [/presto] | FREEFORM APPLICATION once upon a time, there was a little girl by the name of alice meer, and she had a fascination with books. from the time she had an awareness and way to communicate, she loved to hear her parents read stories from her fairytale books. then from the time she herself could read, she almost always had a book in her hand. dr. seuss and fairytales were her favorite, but she would devour any book handed to her. she read the story of beauty and the beast more times than her parents could keep track of. every child has an imagination, this is something everyone knows. they play cowboys and indians, princesses and knights, house... alice was no different. when she wasn’t reading, she was pretending with her friends. she liked to put herself in princess dresses and have adventures. most of her imagination came from trying to escape reality due to her parents' recent death. her burning curiosity often got her into trouble, and would be a trait she would carry with her into adulthood. she was now reading bigger books and mostly found herself getting entranced by the world of hogwarts and harry potter. middle school was when she really started to become a worry for her grandparents. yes, she was healthy and happy and was doing very well in school, but she didn’t have many friends. she spent her free time daydreaming, lost in her own little world; sitting in her room reading, her mind soaking up words on the pages like a flower soaked up the rays of sun touching its pedals. she was now in love with lewis carroll’s tales of a girl names alice and her adventures in wonderland. she would continue to proclaim it as her favorite book and to identify with the main character. high school was an awkward time for alice. she got picked on for the way her head was always in the clouds or for always being so quiet and nerdy. libraries and various bookstores were her sanctuaries from the classmates that liked to pick on her and from the judgmental looks she always got from her grandparents. she was more content to sit in one of the quiet buildings that contained the unique and wonderful smell, the sound of pages flipping filling her ears while her spirit was whisked away to some new adventure. after graduating high school, alice had it in her head that she wanted to be one of the princesses at disneyland. she had always loved disneyland and she had her mind set on being one of the girls who portrayed alice in wonderland or belle. auditions came and went, she had been so excited to see if she would be spending her summer as one of her idols. it broke her heart when she didn’t get either of the roles. so she flew across the country to go to princeton university with an uncertainty about what her future would hold or what she wanted to make of it. twenty-one years old and still so innocent and naïve, alice had only just graduated from princeton with her bachelor’s in english literature and was back home in los angeles. she had loosened up a little in college, but she was still a bookworm with her head in the clouds. when she isn't working, she is still found curled up with a book in her hands and a cup of tea at her side. |
