howl christian jenkins |
[presto] luke worrall civilian nineteen waiter heterosexual single toxxic [/presto] | FREEFORM APPLICATION HIS STORY born howell christian jenkins in bronxville, new york on january 27th, he was the second child to the jenkins family. he was the accidental baby, the one that wasn't planned or even wanted; that was the way he was treated as he grew up and something his parents never hesitated to remind him of, especially after his younger sister was born and treated exactly like his older sister. when he was younger, it upset him terribly; just like how being mistreated by his peers growing up upset him. he didn't understand what he was doing wrong and he tried so hard to be accepted and likable, to make his parents see that he could be a shining star just like his sister... but they just wouldn't give him the chance. for so long, he worked to make people like him. he conformed to trends and watched the cool kids, but he was rarely accepted by many. it bothered him until his first year of middle school, when he just stopped caring. he learned how to cope with and ignore being made fun of by his schoolmates; he learned how to cope with and ignore his parents' constant reminders of how big of a mistake he was. when he got older, they blamed him for their not being able to help his sister in her dream more than they had been able to. howl became fiercely independent, started taking care of himself and being even more of a loner after being practically raised by his big sister. he didn't want to be someone's "problem" and didn't want anyone's pity; he was responsible for himself and didn't want it any other way. he didn't care what people thought of him or what anyone said. he was done worrying about what other people expected from him. then, when he was thirteen, his sister decided to move nearly across the country to orlando. he begged her to take him with her, and she gladly agreed; their parents barely let the request pass howl's tongue before they were practically packing his bags for him. he was looking forward to the complete change his life was about to undergo. a new school, a new town, a fresh slate. it would be interesting to see the changes of environment and the people he would be dealing with on a day to day basis. from the time he got to florida, he worked hard to lose his new york accent that he associated with the past he wanted to leave behind for good; while he was never able to get rid of it, he was able to teach himself to hide it pretty well. in addition to the changes he was experiencing, his sister helped him legally change his name to his favored child nickname, howl, which stemmed from his older sister having difficulties pronouncing howell when he was born. moving to orlando was like being granted a wish. he went to a new school and met a boy by the name of calcifer that was as much of an outcast as him and they became fast friends. howl connected with him and they became best friends, falling deeper into the rabbit hole of orlando and pushing further into the skeleton filled closets of the secrets the city held. they began delving into the alternative style and gaining knowledge of the secret things that most people didn't notice. the two dropped out of high school together, moving to miami and living in one of the hotels the hayes' owned, to pursue writing a blog under aliases dedicated to exposing the secrets people hid from each other. INDEPENDENT: since his parents didn't care much for him and only did the bare minimum to raise him, howl has learned a lot about taking care of himself and being self-dependent. he knows he's the only one he can count on for anything and that others are more likely to shove a knife in his back than do something even slightly sacrificing to help another, so he tries to rely on others as little as possible. he does know, however, that his sister and best friends are the closest thing to a real family that he'll ever have and they'd do anything for him, as he would do for them. STUBBORN: howl is used to getting what he wants because he's never had to leave decisions to someone else. his parents never cared and his sister was usually too young or busy to really tell him 'no', not to mention that he usually had a good enough head on his shoulders to know the difference between right and wrong decisions... for the most part. so, when he comes up on conflict with another person trying to stand in the way of something that he wants, he is hardheaded and stubborn as a mule. FLAMBOYANT: howl loves positive attention, which he has gotten much more of as he's gotten older and defined himself and his style more. his almost obsessive care for his appearance has done much for him in the attention department and that has resulted in giving him a bit of an ego and quite a bit of confidence. being in miami where style is all part of the glamour, he found a place where he fit in and was admired. MISUNDERSTOOD: the big, tough guy from new york... the one who almost always seems to have a serious express and doesn't talk much; he seems to mostly ignore people unless they've grabbed his attention. in fact, when he actually talks and his deep, velvet voice finally touches people's ears, they're in awe. walk a mile in his shoes and you might understand this young man, though most would rather not given him the chance. INTELLIGENT: he dropped out of school and never really had very good grades; maybe he doesn't know what the bigger words you use means and he's never read that "classic" book that everyone should know about, but he has an unspoken intelligence and understanding of the world. he doesn't talk much, but he knows how to listen. he learns from other people's experiences and he watches the world around him. SHALLOW: this actually a misconception with howl. you see, he dislike things that are ugly. okay, yes, he is a little shallow; however, when he meets a girl that he finds pretty and she isn't beautiful on the inside as well, he loses all interest in her and acts like he doesn't know her or simply that she doesn't exist at all. this applies to himself as well and doesn't like people saying ugly things about him. GIRLS: aah, yes. horomones are raging in the young male and girls are his obsession. he loves the way they look, loves the way they feel, loves the way they smell. he isn't much for the cliche girls that love pink and listen to nothing but that dancey pop music, though they definitely get his attention. no, girls like him are the ones that really pull his eyes to them; girls with dyed hair but very elegant, with flare but still lady-like. he's had his flings and one night stands, he's stood girls up, and he's been less than a gentlemen to girls that he dated... but he still likes them. SECRETS: while trusting him with your secrets will probably get you a front page spot on his blog (or the rumor king's, if it's juicy enough), he can be trusted to keep thing to himself from time to time. despite that, however, he really does love outing people and their dirty laundry. some may call it betrayal but howl truly doesn't think anyone should keep secrets and that's the reason why the world is in such a shitty state. while he believes that secrets are cruel and hurtful and do nobody any good, he really does love them. VIDEO GAMES: he mostly likes to blow the heads off monsters or playing something old school - like asteroids or the original pac-man, atari games will always have a special place in his heart. being thrust into a new situation like that, the zombie apocalypse or an alien takeover, helps him release his stress and frustrations. newer game systems kinda freak him out; the realism is almost overwhelming and an intense situation in the virtual world can actually trigger a panic attack for the young man. HIS APPEARANCE: this goes along with him being shallow. howl spends quite a while each morning dedicated to making himself look good, also dying his hair once every couples weeks to keep it the blonde he loves so dearly. on bad days when he can't seem to get his appearance down, he throws a fit and will not leave the house. if anything ever happened to his beloved hair, he doesn't know what he would do... probably just give up on life. calcifer likes to joke that the day howl doesn't spend hours getting ready in the bathroom is the day he's fallen in love, and not a day before. BUBBLEGUM: smacking gum is really unattractive to him. especially since people can't seem to chew gum with their mouth closed. it's disgusting to listen to that, to see it. and, when people blow bubbles constantly and they pop in that sharp and abrupt way, it's enough to make him rip it out of their mouths without a second thought. he never has gum on him and he isn't afraid of letting you know his distaste for it if you're smacking away at that disgusting, pink stuff. SERIOUSNESS: being serious is one thing. howl is actually pretty serious most of the time. but, believe it or not, he'd much rather be a goofball and humorous. he doesn't show that side with many people, which can lead them into thinking he's a bit of a prick, but he's glad to be wild and crazy and funny with the people he's comfortable with. it comes off as a bit of a surprise when he first starts showing that side to people. however, he doesn't like to see people being serious or taking life too seriously. LOUD NOISES: howl's audio sensory is really well, and loud noises - especially when there are a lot of them going all at once - actually give give him really bad headaches. it's too much to have a voice raised for attention when the person you're talking to is less than two feet away from you. shouting a little to get someone's attention is one thing, but talking loudly just to get attention from those you aren't conversing with is totally different. it's actually a turn off if your voice is too loud for him. the only thing howl likes loud is his music. BEING CROWDED: large crowds are difficult for him to handle. he doesn't like being pushed and bumped into by impolite strangers. also, as you multiply the amount of people, the amount of noise and the volume level of it both rise as well... and we know how much he doesn't like noise. howl is much more of the person you see sitting on the edge of the crowd or, more preferably, with just a couple friends or by himself. |
